1. How much of my donation is going directly to people in need?
We ensure that 100% of your donation will go towards our rural development programs. Our board of trustees, as well as the director of our school function as volunteers, and are not paid an honorarium or a salary. No administrative costs are funded by donation, which means that 100% of all donations from individuals, associations, foundations, and businesses, provide direct services to people living in villages. We are fully committed to spending your money in a highly productive, efficient way.
2. How will my donation be used?
If you go to the Donate section, you will notice that there is a listing of donor funding options, with program activity costs, as examples of how efficiently your money is put to use in carrying out program activities. You can choose to target your money towards a particular program, in which case we will ensure that the funds are used towards maintaining and expanding the scale of the chosen activity. Unspecified donations are added to the corpus, which is used to fund our capital expenditures and make up any shortfalls in donor funding of active programs.
3. Can I choose a specific project to support?
Yes, we have stated the various causes you can support in the respective ‘What We Do’ sub-sections, making it easy for you to choose specific projects. Donations that are given to a specific project will be used to fund activities related to that project.
Please note that the Chakshu Foundation may use any directed donation for other purposes if the Board of Trustees finds that all funding needs for the particular program have already been committed, or if the program is discontinued because its goals have been met.
4. I don't have much money. Can I still help?
Yes! Even small donations make great impacts on the lives of people living in underdeveloped conditions. Larger donations can make a very significant difference to the patients whose eye care you can sponsor or to students who look forward to a bright future. The Womens Self Help Groups activities can also be supported by funding training sessions, and providing better facilities to execute their entrepreneurial initiatives.
5. Is my donation tax deductible?
Donations to SKS Chakshu Foundation are entitled to income tax benefit under Section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. We are also registered under Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act 1976 under registration no. 08378080, enabling donations from outside India and from NRIs.
6. Do you issue tax receipts?
Yes, you will receive a charitable tax receipt for income tax purposes. The tax receipt can be sent to you by postal mail or as an email attachment, as preferred by you. Please note that tax receipts are mailed out once the funds are credited to our account. Therefore please make allowances for the time required for the banking operations to be completed. Please ensure that you have provided us with your name, mailing address, email address and phone contact using the downloadable form provided on the website.
7. Does SKS Chakshu Foundation have Annual Audits?
Yes, our books of account are audited every year. SKS Chakshu Foundation has appointed the well reputed firm of M/S M.L. Sharma & Co., as Auditors. Annual Audited Balance sheets are submitted to the Charity Commissioner & Income Tax authorities, as per the statutory requirement.
8. Can I donate in a currency other than INR or US dollars?
Yes. We are grateful to receive donations from anywhere in the world and in any currency that can be converted to Indian Rupees or US Dollars.
